Since Riza and Kevin were visiting from Texas, Kevin and I coordinated everything remotely before they arrived in California. We ultimately decided on the pond area because it’s peaceful and slightly tucked away from some of the busier garden paths.

To keep the surprise intact, I stood on the opposite side of the pond pretending to photograph someone else while keeping communication open with Kevin over text throughout the afternoon.

Once they approached the pond area, Kevin recognized me, casually guided Riza into position, and got down on one knee.

Those moments right after a proposal are always some of my favorites to photograph because the emotions are completely real and unfiltered!
