As a Napa Valley photographer, I’m constantly inspired by venues that effortlessly blend luxury, romance, and timeless design. Sarah and Tom’s wedding at The Estate Yountville was exactly that. Set in the heart of wine country, their day was the perfect example of how thoughtful details and elevated style can transform a wedding into a truly immersive experience.
From the organic burgundy, green, and brown color palette to the candlelit reception that unfolded after an unexpected rainstorm, every element of their wedding was beautiful. It was an elegant celebration that embraced both beauty and spontaneity.
Getting Ready & Attire
Sarah and Tom began their day at separate locations before sharing a romantic first look ahead of the ceremony. They exchanged private vows before portraits and wedding party photos began.
Sarah wore an off-the-shoulder gown with tissue-soft detachable sleeves that added movement and softness to her look. Her sleek bun and pearl drop earrings felt classic and editorial, while her veil adorned with delicate floral details added a romantic finish. The gown’s train flowed beautifully during portraits, especially against the estate’s garden backdrop.
Her bridesmaids wore black dresses in varying styles, creating a cohesive yet modern bridal party look. Tom chose a classic black tuxedo that perfectly complemented the formal tone of the day. Together, their style set the foundation for what would become an incredibly elevated The Estate Yountville wedding celebration.

A Garden Ceremony at The Estate Yountville Wedding
The ceremony took place in the estate’s garden, surrounded by lush greenery and natural textures that complemented their organic color palette. Burgundy florals paired with soft greens and warm brown tones created a design that felt rich without overwhelming the setting.
There’s something especially romantic about a Napa Valley garden ceremony. Sarah and Tom’s ceremony was heartfelt and intimate, and the rain held out for them.

Elevating the Guest Experience Through Dress Code
One of my favorite details of the day was the couple’s decision to invite guests to dress in the wedding’s color palette. The rich burgundy, dark neutrals, and warm earth tones created a beautifully unified visual experience from ceremony through reception.
When guests lean into a formal dress code, especially for a black tie wedding, it elevates not only the aesthetic but also the overall energy of the celebration. The photographs feel cohesive, the atmosphere feels intentional, and the entire event takes on a design-forward quality. Sarah and Tom’s guests truly embraced the vision!

A Rainy Reception Turned Candlelit Celebration
The original plan was for a fully outdoor reception. However, just as the evening began, rain arrived unexpectedly. In a seamless transition, the incredible team at The Estate Yountville quickly moved the reception indoors, resetting tables and switching chairs while maintaining the elegance of the original design.
Though the setting changed, the vision remained intact. Indoors, the space glowed with candlelight, creating an intimate ambiance that felt warm and inviting. Beautiful lounge-style seating areas allowed guests to gather comfortably throughout the evening. Those spaces really added depth and texture to the reception design.
Sarah and Tom made their grand entrance into the newly transformed indoor space before cutting their unique rectangular cake, which was adorned with live florals cascading across its surface. They listened to the toasts at their sweetheart table before Sarah changed into a stunning floor-length, one-shoulder gown for the dancing portion of the evening.
Their first dance took place on a striking black checkered dance floor, followed by heartfelt parent dances. From there, guests filled the floor and celebrated well into the night.
